The Saturday SixWelcome to a new series we're starting here: 'The Saturday Six.' Each Saturday will be a little different, as this post will consist mostly of things that have been on my mind the past week, or something I've tried that I think you should know about. Kind of a random assortment of goodness. This week's includes the book I'm reading & my alternative to false eyelashes. What do you want to know about next Saturday?
1. January is nearly over & I'm just getting around to setting some ideas & goals to paper. They aren't too rigid, but include things like sleep better...I'm obviously firmly in my mom jeans in this goal & you've probably heard my talk about it on my IG story -- I think I've made some headway on my insomnia. Mostly though, I want to be a bit more aware and purposeful in 'doing what matters.' I don't want to wear 'busy' as a badge of honor, because let me assure you, it is not. I'm sure I'll share more down the road. 2. It rained all day yesterday and is supposed to rain all weekend. This is a big deal. In Arizona, if it's under 60 degrees, we tell our kids to bundle up and we have hot chocolate on hand for them when they get home from school, because BRRR! But under 60 AND raining for 3 days?! I'm not sure what to do with myself, but I plan to enjoy every second of it. In two more weeks it could be 90 degrees or something ridiculous...but for reals it was 90 degrees in February last year. 3. What I'm reading: David + Goliath, by Malcolm Gladwell he also wrote The Tipping Point, Outliers and a lot of other great titles that involve lots of research and good stories. It's not too research heavy to where it's a total bore and it'd helped to remind me to be grateful for what I think are my 'disadvantages.' Good for the 14 and up crowd. 4. I finally have made it back to my consistent gym routine (holla!) and I've also made it back to my have-a-bowl-of-ice-cream-every-night routine as well. It's called balance. 5. New Product I'm Loving: R+F Lash Boost. So I've always the look of eyelash extensions, I've just never ever been willing to give it that much time (an appt every 3 weeks?!) or money. I can hardly handle my hair appt. I'd heard about the Lash Boost but was hesitant to try it, because it's not cheap either, but comparatively to doing extensions, well it's a no brianer. You have to use it for 8 weeks for full results and I'm only 4 in, but I can notice a difference. I'll give you my full before and after in another 4 weeks, but if you're in the market, try it! It's awesome & I heard if you order by the end of the month, you'll get a free mini eye cream too. 6. This month my husband spent an agonizing 14 days with intense vertigo. Like couldn't stand up vertigo. Room spinning, can't keep his balance vertigo. It was miserable. It seemed we saw a different doctor or had a follow up every single day. We heard every single vertigo story in a 5 mile radius, some who had it for 6 months. Yikes. By day 8, I found myself sitting outside a door that said 'nuclear medicine' while he got a CT scan. We were fairly sure that it would come out clean, but having to go check makes you mentally walk down that road of 'worse-case scenario' and it wasn't fun. Safe to say, we were wound a little tight. Finally we landed on a chiropractor who had successfully treated a friend of a friends vertigo and it worked! Naturally, my next question was, 'can you solve my insomnia too?' He had some good ideas that I'm trying and it seems they are working.

Can you talk about what you are doing for insomnia?

Hi, I'm Amy. When I'm not scouring the valley for the perfect new house, you can usually find me in the kitchen with a gaggle of kids. Chips, salsa and a Diet Coke are usually in hand. Categories
