Home Projects: Outdoor ShowerEvery season it seems we have a bit of a home project on our hands & I don't foresee it stopping anytime soon. This summer we added our sour orange tree hedge and while they haven't filled in yet, by next summer they'll be nice and full & I can't wait! On Monday, we will begin our biggest home project yet, adding square footage to our upstairs to make room for this baby. It's a big project, but one that will add a lot of value to our home financially & make it so much more livable. I've got that one mostly planned out & in motion, so naturally, I'm moving on to planning the project I want to have done for next summer: an outdoor shower. I grew up with a very simple version of an outdoor shower & while I rarely actually shampooed off in it, it was nice to rinse the chlorine from my hair. As a young girl, my hair would turn white-blonde in the summer time...until about halfway through summer where that white-blonde would have a tinge of green to it from the chlorine. As you can imagine, it was a good look. The version I'm thinking about will allow for a full shampoo shower experience & hopefully include an outdoor tub as well -- if you're local and see a vintage tub, let me know! This will allow our evening swims to transition right into bath time without all the wet bathing suits + pool towels being tracked inside & upstairs & stashed away on random hooks, dirty clothes hampers & bathrooms all over the place. Even though, in my mind, everything as a place, I've yet to convince my kids of that. As such, I tend to wash an absurd amount of pool towels each summer. I've been noodling on this idea since we moved in...we have the perfect corner spot & the hose hook up is already right there, which means plumbing won't be hard. I've been gathering ideas on my Pinterest board, but here are a few more of my favorites: The elements I'm mostly loving are a bench, towel hooks, outdoor lighting, potted flowers & flowering vines...which is sometimes hard for Arizona to achieve, but we're going to try!

Hi, I'm Amy. When I'm not scouring the valley for the perfect new house, you can usually find me in the kitchen with a gaggle of kids. Chips, salsa and a Diet Coke are usually in hand. Categories
